CAP is the access brain — people, credentials, groups, and schedules — with decisions on your LAN and optional cloud when you want it. CAP Home puts that next to Home Assistant, so mixed doors share one story.
Now inviting early testers
CAP Home
Door access that belongs in Home Assistant.
People, PINs, groups, and schedules in CAP — unlock and automate where you already live. One story across Z-Wave, covers, and CAP Hub / ESP.
Many door paths. One access plane.
Most home systems pick one lock ecosystem. CAP Home is built for the mix you actually have — and the board you might add next.
- Z-Wave locks HA still owns the radio. CAP owns who may unlock, and when. Zigbee is coming soon.
-
Garage / bay covers
Map HA
cover.*entities into the same access story as your locks. - CAP Hub / ESP32 Buy a board or BYOD with our published pin map. Optional cloud failover on this path.
Stay in Home Assistant day to day.
Dashboards, Companion, and automations stay where you already run the house. CAP is the access brain — not a second product you have to live in.
- Local-first Edge. CAP Edge sits next to HA and makes door decisions on your LAN.
- Optional cloud. Backup and assist when you want it — not a required daily login for Home.
- Local Admin this cycle. Same UI family as production Admin, Home-limited — finished under Mode A beta, then parsed to Edge for non-cloud homes.
Recommended install: Home Assistant OS.
Add our public repositories in Settings → Apps, then install CAP Edge and CAP Access. We are not using HACS. Docker and Core are welcome as best-effort.
- Run Home Assistant OS (recommended).
- Add the CAP Edge add-on repository → Install → Start.
- Add the CAP Access custom repository in Apps → Install → restart HA.
- Pair Edge, map doors, link people — then unlock from HA.
Tester guides cover Install → Setup → Operations. Invitees get version pins and support.
